Miami is a cosmopolitan metropolis adored by its residents and envied by its visitors because of its tropical surroundings, warm climate and international appeal.
Miami is often used generally to describe other nearby cities including Miami Beach, Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, and other several other cities. If you are looking for luxury real estate in Miami, however, odds are you want to look in enclaves Carole Smith excels in including Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay and South Miami.
Here’s a bit of background on the city of Miami. It was established in 1895 when Henry M. Flagler, the railroad magnate, and the land-holding Tuttle and Brickell families formed a liaison at the mouth of the Miami River. Formerly known as Biscayne Bay Country, the Brickells operated a trading post and post office. Flagler developed the east coast of Florida beginning in St. Augustine in 1885. With the arrival of Flagler’s railroad, a land boom began and settlers came in droves, followed by a variety of businesses and a hotel. Growth continued, making Miami a major transportation, agricultural and tourist hub.
Today, it is no different. Miami is a cosmopolitan metropolis regarded as the “Gateway of the Americas” because of its proximity to South and Central America. With its tropical appeal and endless cultural and outdoor activities, Miami remains an enviable place to live.
