Let’s face it. All-white kitchens can be a bit sterile at times. Most of my Miami real estate clients profess to love a white kitchen but even the brightest, well-designed kitchen needs a pop of interest. An easy way to achieve this is when you incorporate a much-needed, interesting barstool.

The barstool maybe the most used seat in the house. In Miami, like in most cities – all gatherings circulate around the kitchen and if there are counter and stools (and wine), there’s probably a party.

Here’s an example of the impact barstools have on a stark white kitchen. Anyone of these would infuse instant personality into this Coral Gables home I have for sale.

1. Cognac Leather / 2. Velvet Blue / 3. Organic Woven / 4. Gray Backless

Ultimately, a chic backless brass counter stool was used and voila…immediate wow factor.

Hope this post served as inspiration that is simple to put into practice. It’s something I share with my clients all the time.

TGIF, everyone! It has been a busy week and I, for one, am certainly looking forward to the weekend.

Although I am not sure exactly what I will be doing yet, I may want to check out the budding  Coral Gables Festival of the Arts, as a warm-up to upcoming one in Coconut Grove. There will be over 200 artists featuring their work, as well as plenty of great food. There is even a special KidZone for the littlest art critics.

The festival spreads out along Alhambra from Ponce De Leon to LeJeune Road, in the heart of the City Beautiful.

So, grab your loved ones (and maybe your umbrella?) and head over to the Gables, maybe stroll down Miracle Mile and check out the festival. I might do the same, between open houses and showing homes for sale in Coral Gables

If you want to find a new home in Coral Gables or Coconut Grove to hang any piece of art you buy, you know where to reach me! (Just in case you don’t: 305.710.1010!)

Although it might feel like “New Year” magic has worn off, I got a second chance this week to hit the reset button when I was goal setting with my great team. It was a terrific opportunity to reflect on 2017 sales performance, client interactions, our strengths and weaknesses. While doing this exercise, I was pleased to find that I completed 52 transactions in 52 weeks. On average, I closed a deal a week — I have to say,  selling homes in Miami is so complex these days that at times I felt like I was juggling 100 deals at once!

Even though real estate is hectic and demanding, I’m thrilled I helped over 50 families transition into a new chapter in their lives. Selling and buying a home is extremely personal and I take great pride in being a resource for my clients.

Here’s a snapshot of my 52 to in 52.

If 2018 is your time to hit the reset button regarding real estate, I encourage you to contact me in order for you to leverage my 20+ years experience in Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, South Miami and nearby pockets.

This is a great opportunity to have your own piece of the City Beautiful.  I have just listed this corner-lot Coral Gables beauty in a truly prime location. Totally remodeled, this 3 bedroom home located at 4101 Segovia Street is a breath of fresh air — and among the most appealing homes listed for sale in Coral Gables this month.

With updated kitchen & baths, gleaming floors and impact windows, this home is completely turn-key. The open floor plan highlights the crisp feel and many garden views of this Gables home. The family room leads to an open patio, and the interior laundry has room to add a murphy bed to turn the space into a 4th bedroom, an unusual bonus in this neighborhood.

To learn more details about this impeccable home in the heart of Coral Gables located at 4101 Segovia Street, click here.

If you want to tour this home, or any homes for sale in Coral Gables, call the Carole Smith Team today at 305.329.7770.

As much as I would love to tell you that I am 100% sticking to my New Year’s resolutions, I would be lying if I told you that I could not be easily tempted by a piece of quality dark chocolate! If you are like me, maybe you want to check out this weekend’s Chocolate Festival at Fairchild Tropical Gardens in Coral Gables.

In its twelfth year, the festival combines two of my favorite things — chocolate and beautiful plants. I looking forward to enjoying our beautiful weather and strolling through the lush gardens. There will be plenty of samples from Miami’s top chocolatiers, as well as chocolate-making demonstrations.

Admission is free for Fairchild members; otherwise, it’s $25 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $12 for kids (free for 5 and under).

I might check it out in between showing homes for sale in Coral Gables… for the plants, of course 🙂

A truly unique property, 3773 Matheson Avenue in Coconut Grove, enchants with its beamed ceilings, expansive windows, and lush native vegetation. Add to that a separate guest house, ponds, and waterfalls, and you have a one-of-a-kind tropical oasis waiting for you to call it home.

Tour it this Sunday, January 14, 2017 between 2-4PM and be enthralled by its exotic setting and serene water features which feel so at home in bohemian Coconut Grove. You too will feel at home as soon as you step through this very special home represented exclusively by Coconut Grove Realtor, Carole Smith.

When planning your upcoming weekend, you may want to soak up some art at the nearby Beaux Arts Festival of Art, but be sure to carve out some time to visit this magnificent home, Sunday, January 14th between 2-4PM.

If you would like a private showing of this Coconut Grove gem, please call 305.710.1010.

Bea’s Sweet Potato Souffle

My mom’s treasured recipe is a Thanksgiving favorite.

Serves 4-6
3 cups of boiled and mashed (peeled) sweet potatoes
2 eggs
1 cup of granulated sugar
1/4 cup of melted butter
1/2 tsp of salt
May add cinnamon

Combine ingredients in casserole dish

Topping:
1/4 cup melted butter
1 cup of brown sugar (light)
1/2 cup of self-rising flour
1 cup of chopped nuts

Mixed together – it will dry.

Put on top of sweet potato mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
