Can I tell you how many dark wood, ornate kitchens I saw in the 90s and early 2000s…and how many stark white kitchens I’ve seen as of late? Too many to count (don’t even get me started on the rose-colored formica kitchens of the 80s and 90s!) Even after all this time and the knowledge that kitchens can be updated to a buyer’s taste and that trends come and go, I still have clients who refuse to buy a great house because the kitchen is a deal breaker.
Kitchens truly are a main driver of home purchases. I’ve sold several Coral Gables homes based on their stellar kitchens – even to people who don’t cook! Kitchens are THAT important! So much so that I’ve collected several favorite Coral Gables kitchens I’ve swooned over recently.
This custom kitchen is functional and FABULOUS. I call it the workhorse because it has ample prep spaces, thoughtful space planning, shelves to display collectibles, and built-in desk that welcomes sunlight and multi-tasking. This is a true transitional design that can endure the test of time and PICKY BUYERS!
This luxurious yet classic kitchen reminds me of my trips to Europe. The marble counters and stylish wooden cabinets and floors root this kitchen in tradition. The two-toned cabinet colors, the lattice glass upper cabinets, classy subway tile backsplash and the overhead pot holder give this space a sophisticated European-vibe all its own. I love how the glass door refrigerator begs for fresh and colorful fruits and veggies to be the center of attention. Pour me a glass of wine, I’m ready to start cooking!
This open concept kitchen looks like a rendering, too perfect to be true. I can confirm that this is an actual photo of a terrific Coral Gables kitchen with oyster-colored custom cabinetry and waterfall island. The wide plank whitewashed oak floors don’t hurt. The kitchen’s elegant simplicity almost delves into minimalism but the shaker cabinets tether it to traditional design. I love how the adjacent breakfast room continues with stylized cabinetry and basks in natural light.
Although this looks nothing like my kitchen, I can appreciate the clean lines and high-end appliances in this kitchen – more importantly – buyers swooned over this kitchen’s design, storage, and quality. All these elements are very attractive in today’s modern living style. Again a waterfall countertop is featured adding to the wow-factor in this space.
